When I turned 9 or 10, I was finally allowed to spend Thanksgiving weekend helping my grandfather make holiday toffee. Together, we stirred and shaped the toffee by hand, creating the perfect buttery crunch to give to our friends and family.
After he passed away, I continued his tradition. Each year I made toffee, the number of batches grew and I developed new flavors to complement his original recipe.
With help from the Small Business Center and Portland Community College, I developed a plan to bring Vollie Austin Toffee to market. I now make toffee in 6-pound batches every week so that you can enjoy the recipe my grandfather perfected.
